Curcade: 2-3 week period of time enclosed in memory that is closely linked to certain smells, colours, moods, music etc, that is often refreshed by re-exposure to those things. difficult to express through writing so we decided to make a little booklet of Curcades.

Clara Rockmore

a lopsided Clara rockmore playing the theremin in oil on cardboard.

moon lady inspired by an ingenius demonstration of theremin magic by Clara Rockmore. Namely, her rendition of saint-saens' 'the swan' on the theremin.

well, today i sketched a lot.

a tribute to J.C. Leyendecker that went slightly awry. If you could see it in better resolution, the scratching out wouldn't look like a mistake. the thing has an actual form and stuff. I'll get a scanner soon enough.

small, imprisoned alien

a young Daniel Clowes.
God, he's beautiful. and of course in my oppinion the greatest comic book artist of ALL TIME.

R.I.P. Isabella Blow

(19 November 1958 – 6 May 2007)

Featured in The Life Aquatic, Isabella Blow tragically took her own life this May after suffering from depression for many years. This causes one to question whether Wes Anderson drives people to suicide (Owen Wilson, anyone?), particularly as it seems to be a prominent theme in his films.

I am (was) fond of Isabella, mostly for her breath-taking hats. Although, admittadly(sp?), I was only introduced to her glory this evening, so I never 'was' fond of her, but I am now, except that she's dead. I believe she drank bleach or some sort of weed killer.
She also 'discovered' Hussein Chalayan and Alexander McQueen, aka mostly she was famous for being rich.

Shaun Tan

ok, and i won't make 1000 posts on here, but i just made this thing today, so I need to beef it up a little before I can just let it go,
but Shaun Tan, though not a comic artist, is still subject to panelological pursuit because he makes picture books.

The first piece here is done in pencil but i put his website here because this doesnt do him justice, but i couldn't possibly choose between the images and they take up lots of space. Some of his stuff, like the illustrations on his website, kind of remind me of a more technical daniel johnston or something. i dunno. check it out. He's got a pretty wide range.

this one kind of reminds one of those big scary fire-guys in Nausica, non?

UPDATE: NOV 22: APPARENTLY SHAUN TAN HAS WRITTEN A GRAPHIC NOVEL *** more information COMING SOON YESSSS
